Odorless, Tasteless, Dangerous – That’s Lead!

Your goal? To provide your family with plenty of drinking water and to cook, clean, and bathe with water from the tap. Our goal? To help make this possible even with the potential contaminants that may be in your water. Lead is invisible, tasteless, and odorless, making it impossible to detect in water without testing. There could be lead in your drinking water if your house has lead pipes, brass faucets and/or fittings made before 1986, when amendments to the U.S. Safe Drinking Water Act limited the lead content in brass fixtures to 8 %, or copper piping with lead solder. According to the EPA, “Lead, a metal found in natural deposits, is commonly used in household plumbing materials and water service lines.” Are they in yours? With our drinking water systems , you know the answer is no.

According to oregonlive.com, some residents living near the Clackamas River have high levels of lead found in their drinking water. The Oregon Health Authority requires the water district to notify customers if the lead level exceeds 15 parts per billion. The levels tested between 15 to 27 parts per billion in 2009. Just like many other homes around the country, there are 75 homes in the Clackamas River Water-Clairmont area that are most vulnerable to lead leaking into the water from old copper pipes. Eleven of those homes tested positive for too much lead in the drinking water in previous years. Too much lead, according to the EPA, “can also cause a variety of adverse health effects. In babies and children, exposure to lead in drinking water above the action level can result in delays in physical and mental development, along with slight deficits in attention span and learning abilities. In adults, it can cause increases in blood pressure. Adults who drink this water over many years could develop kidney problems or high blood pressure.”

You could go through the testing process, or you could play it safe with one of our drinking water systems . Our water filters won’t take care of just the lead, but will also remove other contaminants which are creating health risks for your family. Our water purifiers are cost-effective and eco-friendly, and are a recommended solution for any contaminated drinking water.
